Hi to all,
We wanted to send a little reminder for everyone that wants to participate to please bring your "Marian" story, photo or anything for her 80th birthday keepsake book we are putting together. If you forget, we will have some special cards available for the other guests who may want to write special congratulations, etc, that you can use. It's great that these special and happy occasions give us the opportunity to see all the family members again.
PS- Marian totally made the internet!
Love to all,
Marian's family

Hello from Mary Jo
Thank you, Heather, for the pictures of Carlie. Yes, modern medicine is wonderful and we're all glad she made it through the experience with no ill-effects. I can believe Ben is a proud papa. I remember one Thanksgiving at Ervin and Marianne's house when he sat with baby Erika on his lap for the longest time. I'm not sure exactly how old he was, but he was very interested in interacting with the baby. Good daddy material.
Janice, I will get some kind of a memory to you for your mom's party. I can't promise I will be there because I am scheduled for a total hip replacement this Monday. I am DREADING it, but know I need to go ahead with it. My other joints are fine, but my right hip has a "shallow socket" (born with it) and after 60 plus years of walking on it, it is worn out. My main problem is bone spurs which restricts the movement of the joint. It's not grinding pain yet, but aches and kind of locks up sometimes. I have heard hips are the easiest to recover from....I am hoping.
Now, for the really upsetting news: The roof on mom's condo was blown off in a tornado last Sunday early morning. She didn't appear to have damage in her unit, but last night there were more torrential rains and now there is water damage throughout the building. She will have to leave while they replace the ceilings. She doesn't know for how long, or if she has to take all her possessions out. She says she just wishes somebody would tell her what to do. I'm sure some of the things will need to be packed up, and who knows what the mess will be when they finish. And here I am: no help. Hopefully insurance might cover some clean up, and/or hiring someone to do it.
Glad to see more activity on the blog. Let's keep it up

Carlie Linell Talbott
Hello from the talbotts in lincoln, sorry this is posted under Sue, I was unable to figure out how to create my own account so if anyone has any pointers i'd be anxious to do that. Carlie and mom and dad are doing great!!!Ben is returning to work tonite, so I'm a little sad about that, I hope us girls can do okay without him, he's been such a huge help these last couple of weeks, I would like him to just stay home with us.
That's all for now, again I hope to create my own account. Until then, enjoy the photos,
Love
Ben, Heather and Carlie Linell Talbott:)

A request from Naperville
My apologies for my lack of posting. I am an avid reader, so it is only fair that I contribute!
I will start out with a request from all of you. As you know, Mom is turning 80 this month and celebrating with an open house at their church in Yutan the last Sunday in June. There are few things she would rather do than reminisce, so I think she would very much enjoy a gift of memories. My basic idea is that all of her relatives - that includes all of you! - would jot down a Marian story, memory, favorite food, adjective, picture, etc. There are no rules on length or format. It can be a sentence, a letter, a story, a poem, a list, a photo, or whatever you can think up! I need to iron out details with Suki on assembling said memories into a scrapbook of sorts. (I am not part of the scrapbooking world, and she can give us size and paper details that we may need to keep in mind.) Mom and Dad only read the blog that Suki prints out, punches, and places into a binder for them (obviously positioning for the favorite daughter-in-law slot), so this can be a surprise. Start thinking about your contribution. You can bring it that Sunday, as I don't think there will be any assembling prior to that. Thank you, one and all.
Wow! So many graduations this spring! Congrats to you all. Grandma Bull would be so proud! I recall that her standard gift to great-grandchildren was a piggy bank to begin a college fund.
And the baby boom has begun, apparently. I'm hoping for a Carlie picture on the blog soon. (That may have to wait for a visit from Aunt Nancy, as she is outstanding at posting pictures.)
I will close for now, as I must get cleaned up for an afternoon wedding. Things have slowed only slightly since our year of 10 weddings. I believe we will only attend 4 this year, but now the baby showers have begun!
Love,
Janice
